This last weekend was absolutely one of the best weekends for Jonathon and I. I am still so happy about it, too bad it has to end and the work week begins. But before I share the wonderful parts of the weekend, I do have to share the not so wonderful part.
The only bad part of the weekend was recovering from food poisoning. Yes, I was lucky again to get food poisoning. I'm not sure why it likes to visit me so much, but I'd really rather it stay far away from me. Nevertheless, on Wednesday night I began my horrible night on the bathroom floor. The worst part of it all is that our bathroom now is upstairs and around the house (now that we live in a basement). I knew things weren't going to be good when I started feeling bad around midnight and throughout the whole night it got worse. Jonathon was so good though, he helped me upstairs, brought me a blanket, pillow, and my stuffed animal Hershey's to keep me company on the floor. The next morning, Jon found me snuggling with the toilet and helped me down the long trip back downstairs. He was so good and ran to the store and stayed home from school to help me as I had no strength and was very dehydrated. I am now better, but only as of last night/this morning have I actually eaten something besides saltine crackers and Gatorade. It takes several days for food to start to look decent again. I had one day of recuperation and then Friday started our fun weekend off with the Newsboys concert! Although I was still pretty weak, I wouldn't miss this concert! Along with the Newsboys, they had several bands opening for them: Anthem Lights, Abandon, and City Harmonic

Sorry the video is sideways, Nothing but the blood.
I'll get more videos up later, but the HD ones take a long time to upload.
We had a great time at the concert and are excited to see another Newsboys concert in the future. Jon and I both really enjoyed the drummers in the earlier bands as well. But, the Newsboys drummer is one of a kind and gets really into the songs. One of their special effects was raising the drum podium and then it spinning and then roatating at 90 degrees with him still playing. Unfortunately the camera stopped recording right before that happened on the Jesus Freak song. But, maybe I can find a video online to show it. Another thing about the concert that we really enjoyed how the concert was so worshipful. Tait did such a good job of bringing in the Gospel through his own life stories and struggles and was a good reminder and encouragement to us.

We have been loving the warm 70s and 80s that we've been having! Even the Magnolia trees are in bloom! We got to spend a little time smelling and checking out the new buds opening.
Sunday was another amazing day, we got to fulfill one of my life dreams in seeing Yo-Yo Ma! We had wonderful seats on the main floor towards the back center. For this concert, it was various chamber music pieces and so I really got to hear Yo-Yo in particular. They played music from three composers that were new to us and then a Brahms sonata as well. Our favorite piece was the Suite for Eight Cellos. Yes, eight. I was in heaven! There were many times where I was moved to tears; it was so beautiful. I loved being able to see Yo-Yo's 300 year old cello and it had such a warm and singing tone. While playing, he is also so fun to watch because he has so much fun playing and it really seems more of a dance with his cello. It's incredible because the cello is not an extension of his body, it is part of his body. Although it would have been fun to see the full orchestra, I'm glad for more of a spotlight on Yo-Yo Ma because he also talked with the audience between each piece and was very personable.

Here are the three other levels above the main floor.
We look forward to going to a few more concerts before we leave and taking advantage of our student discounts.
While we were down in Chicago, we spent some time eating and were able to enjoy the streets a bit before going into the concert. Since the weather is so nice, we plan on making a few more Sunday afternoon trips downtown and to the lake. The rest of our weekend was very enjoyable and relaxing and it was nice to have time to spend with each other apart from our busy schedules. Now, to start Monday again, but this time with wonderful memories of this past weekend!

Oh beautiful pictures and all dressed up for Yo Yo Ma! It's good to see Anika feeling better. You look better on the Sunday pictures than the Friday one. You look a little flushed in the Friday one; not all your strength back yet. What a good memory maker that weekend was and I'm glad it ended better than it started!
