Bottle Day

Jon and I had been planning on having Levi try a bottle soon, but today was a perfect opportunity.  We had just gotten home from an outing to Costco and a walk in a forest preserve and Levi was fussy and hungry.  I had heard how fussy babies can be when trying a bottle for the first time and how even if they smell mama nearby, it can be a horrible distraction.  So, I gave Jon some tips and handed the bottle and Levi off to him and started to make my way out of the room so I wouldn't be a distraction.  Well, apparently Levi did not care at all because he took that bottle right away like it was nothing!  It didn't even phase him and never once unlatched.  The bottle only had 2 oz. in it and within about 2 minutes (no joke) he had guzzled it down.  Jon was shocked at how fast he ate.  I wasn't.  I'm telling you, this kid chugs his meals!  No wonder he gets fussy from gas.  I try to calm and slow him down, but this kid likes his food, I'm telling you!  After he had his bottle, he was ready for more and so that's where I came back into the picture.  Jon did a good job and it was a fun moment to have him feed Levi his first meal without me.  But, on the other hand, it was a little sad as well since he has only really needed me.  Overall though, this is good for everyone.  Jon gets some special bonding time, Levi gets some time with papa, and I gain a little independence if I want it.

Like I said in Levi's one month update, one activity we usually do in the morning is time on his play mat.  He loves kicking his feet which make the posts rattle.

We also spend some tummy time on his mat and he really doesn't seem to mind it, especially when he falls asleep during tummy time!  If I allowed him to be a tummy sleeper, I honestly think he'd sleep much better overall.
His doctor was impressed by how strong and big he is in general.  But during his check-up he was on his tummy and pushing himself up with his arms.  I caught him doing this the week prior to his appointment and he was 4 weeks.

He is just the cutest and so loveable, isn't he?

Well, hooray for the chug-a-lug guy! GOOD JOB, Levi! GOOD JOB, Papa! GOOD job, Mama! Yeah, you're right, it IS kind of a sad milestone when the baby can take a bottle from papa or someone else. And yet, a big relief and liberating!

And oh, how funny is that big strong boy!

btw, is the video supposed to work? or just as a photo?

lytdy!

Yes, he is so cute and darling. Can't wait to see him and hold him again! The way you describe his habits and personality is very much like I remember Jonathon. I wonder if your mom sees similarities in him that you portrayed? And thank you for sending a video this time! It is so precious to see him move and wiggle and hear his darling sounds!

Hey Anika,
Thanks for the video...it makes him so real. He seems very alert and smart if an great-Sas can say so.
What a dollface.
You know, none of my kids were goofy about a bottle...they just took it when needed. Levi does love his chow! No wonder!
